Today, the latest Nintendo Direct lets fans know what they can expect on Switch this year. If you missed your stream, don’t worry – we’ve got all the major announcements you need to know!

Mario Kart is getting new tracks

Probably the biggest news today was that Mario Kart 8: Deluxe will receive 48 new songs. The first eight courses will arrive on March 18, with more coming out this year and in 2023. These new courses will arrive as paid DLC, although you can get the first eight courses for free if you have a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription.

The return of Mario Strikers

If you want even more Mario, Nintendo has you covered. Mario Strikers Battle League will arrive on June 10 so that you and a few friends can enjoy the fast-paced action of 5v5 soccer.

Good news for Earthbound fans

Now you can play Earthbound and Earthbound Beginning on Switch. Unfortunately, however, no announcements on Mother 3.

Salmon mode of Splatoon 3

We still don’t know exactly when Splatoon 3 will be released, except that it will be during summer 2022. However, Nintendo has offered a colorful glimpse of the game’s new Salmon Run: New Wave mode.

Chrono Cross remastered

Chrono Cross wasn’t a great follow-up to Chrono Trigger, but this PlayStation game was a fantastic RPG. It will now receive a Switch remaster (complete with improved graphics, music and other features) arriving on the system on April 7th.

Portal games are coming to Switch

Portal games are perfect and you will soon be able to play them on the go. That’s because Portal and Portal 2 will arrive on Switch later this year via the Portal: Companion collection.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Ready for more Xenoblade Chronicles? This sequel will arrive on Switch in September and will follow Noah and Mio through intense and colorful adventures.

Metroid Dread Updates

Metroid Dread today received a free update that adds two new ways to play. Dread mode will make the game easier and Rookie mode will make the game easier. Additionally, another April update will add a Boss Rush mode.

Our first look at MLB The Show 2022

MLB The Show is finally coming to Switch. While we don’t have a lot of details yet, Nintendo has given us our first taste of the game.

Kirby’s mouthful mode

We already knew that Kirby and the Forgotten Land would arrive on March 25th. But today’s stream revealed the new Mouthful Mode which allows Kirby to inhale larger, inanimate objects (including vending machines and cars) and transform into them.


More Star Wars on Switch

Fans of the original Star Wars: Force Unleashed game will be delighted to see the title get a proper Switch port coming to Switch on April 20. For what it’s worth, this will be a port of the version originally released on Wii.

The return of Advance Wars

It’s been a long wait for Advance Wars fans. But the wait is almost over: Advance Wars 1 + 2 Re-Boot Camp will be released on April 8, 2022.

A Disney F2P driver arrives on Switch

In addition to the new Mario Kart tracks, racing fans have something else to expect: Disney Speedstorm. This free-to-play cross-platform title will be launched this summer and combines Disney and Pixar characters and will introduce new characters, karts and tracks in different seasons.

Nintendo Switch Sport

It is fair to say that Wii Sports was a defining title for the Nintendo Wii. Now, Nintendo is updating this title with Switch Sports, a game that launches on April 29th. It will feature the following sports: tennis, bowling, chambara, soccer, badminton, volleyball and (via subsequent free DLC) golf.

You will be able to play Switch Sports Online. And if you want a preview of the game, Nintendo will be holding an online gaming test from February 18-20.

Front Missions 1 and 2 are in the process of being remastered

Good news, Front Mission fans! Front Missions 1 and 2 will receive remasters for Switch. The first game will be released this summer, with the remastered sequel coming out later.

No Man’s Sky arrives on Switch

Ready to take No Man’s Sky on the go? This popular and engaging title will launch on Switch this summer.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes character news

Nintendo has revealed that Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes will arrive on Switch on June 24, 2022. Fans of the franchise will be thrilled to see that this game features some familiar characters from Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

Klonoa arrives on Switch

Klonoa’s games were powerful at the time, but have largely been forgotten. But everything changes on July 8 when Nintendo releases KLONOA Phantasy Reverie Series, a game that includes both KLONOA: Door to Phantomile and Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil.
