TCL introduced its NXTPAPER technology in 2021, and at the ongoing CES 2024 in Las Vegas, the brand announced NXTPAPER 3.0. TCL says it’s optimized for humans and has numerous improvements and features designed to promote visual health.
The brand also claimed that NXTPAPER filters harmful blue light by up to 61% while maintaining sharp images, deep contrast, vibrant colors and natural motion. NXTPAPER 3.0 continues to offer these benefits and features “optimized for the senses of sight and touch.”
This is achieved by incorporating the Circularly Polarized Light (CPL) screen, which simulates the “emission-reflection-refraction” path of natural light, producing a visual effect that mirrors the experience of reading books in natural light. This improves the paper-like appearance of the CPL screen and provides additional comfort for the eyes.
By the way, NXTPAPER software includes an eye care assistant that helps users develop healthy digital viewing habits. It also features a rest reminder to encourage users to take breaks from prolonged use and help them adopt the popular “20-20-20” eye care rule. It means taking a 20-second break every 20 minutes and focusing on an object 20 feet away. The software also has a feature to detect low lighting and determine if a user is too close.
Going back to NXTPAPER 3.0, the new technology has higher refresh rates and DC Dimming for a flicker-free experience. It also features improved adaptive color temperature powered by an RGB sensor that allows the NXTPAPER display to automatically adjust color temperature based on the time and ambient light for a comfortable viewing experience.
NXTPAPER 3.0 technology will be used on the NXTPAPER 14 Pro tablets, TAB 10 NXTPAPER 5G tablets and 50 series smartphones announced at the ongoing CES 2024. They will also come with NXTPAPER 3.0’s VersaView 3-in-1 user interface optimized for different scenarios.
The first is normal display for regular use with default low blue light and no yellow tint. The second is the Colored Paper mode with low contrast for reading comics. The third is the black and white ink paper mode for a pleasant electronic reading experience.
