Samsung will release the OneUI 5 update for the Galaxy S22 series by the end of October. The news was given at Samsung’s Developer Conference 2022 (keynote in the link to the source).

The firmware includes Android 13 and a host of features, such as greater Material You integration, improved dynamic themes and a new dynamic lock screen, improved widget stacking, multi-user support for the first time on Samsung, new smart multitasking gestures: double swipe from the bottom for quick screen splitting and swipe from the top right corner for pop-up viewing, gallery text recognition, a Privacy Hub, and more.

An October release would make the arrival of Android 13 a month faster than last year’s OneUI 4 update that arrived on the Galaxy S21 series in November, which in turn came nearly a month faster than OneUI 3.0 on the Galaxy series. S20 in December of 2020.

Samsung will launch OneUI 5 and Android 13 for the S22 family in October

Samsung just shipped OneUI 5 Beta 4 to the Galaxy S22 series but it’s unclear if it will be the last one before the finished firmware arrives.

The Galaxy S22 series will be the first in line to receive OneUI 5 by the end of October but there will obviously be some market changes.

Samsung will release the complete OneUI 5 launch roadmap by the end of the month.
