A while ago we saw the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 in disguise. While the cover couldn’t hide the new, larger display, it hid most of the design. Now someone has gotten their hands on the Z Flip5 dummies, so here’s what the phone will look like.

There is a short video included in the post by Girafuges, which also shows a black version of the phone. And most importantly, it shows what the closed phone looks like.

The upcoming pair of foldables are expected to use a teardrop hinge to bridge the gap when the phones are folded. However, the mannequin seen in the video still has a clear shortcoming.

The new hinge should at least add dust resistance to an IP58 rating, i.e. not fully sealed (IP6X) but any dust that gets inside shouldn’t cause any damage. Previous Galaxy Z devices were only water resistant (IPX8).

Other than the larger cover display, not much has changed on the outside. There’s the volume rocker and power button/fingerprint reader on the right, a SIM card tray on the left, and a USB-C port on the bottom (the Z Flip5 is said to support DeX, though that may be only the wireless option). The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5, along with a new generation of Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Tab S9, will be presented on July 26th. If you’re in the US, you can sign up for $50 credit before pre-orders start.
