vivo sells its smartphones with two different operating systems: OriginOS Ocean in China and Funtouch in the world. Today, the company confirmed that its overseas devices will receive Funtouch OS 13, based on Android 13. The eligibility list includes over 50 devices from both the vivo and iQOO brands.

Major improvements include app lock to prevent someone else from watching other apps, improved control via iManager, and a new stabilizer ring in the viewfinder when taking photos.

FunTouch provides additional ways to customize the home screen graphics, including icons corresponding to the wallpaper, to the system. The Settings menu can be in a single color, thanks to the Monochrome Icon feature, which is a delightful upgrade for those who prefer a simplistic look.

The app lock feature is just one of the security improvements. Users can also hide certain photos from their devices – it’s an option via the three-dot menu in the gallery.

The iManager app is vivo’s solution for having all your phone controls in one place. With Funtouch 13, tracking app usage time and user experience is much more streamlined.

One tap closes CPU-burdening apps, and the app can now reduce active apps and adjust CPU frequency based on the phone’s cooling capabilities.

Video editing now allows you to mute the audio while making changes to certain segments, which is a huge improvement, especially in the era of TikTok videos and reels.

Photo editing can now take place inside the viewfinder: a simple horizontal scroll selects vividness, brightness, contrast and exposure, while vertically it goes from +100 to -100.
