The Pixel 7 series doesn’t officially arrive until Thursday, but with so many leaks it feels like it’s already here. And if you don’t think so, here’s a few more leaked information: Google has significantly improved the battery life of the new models over the 6-series. Also, the cameras of the two models will be more different than those of last year’s models.

The Google Pixel 7 will have a smaller battery than its predecessor – 4,355mAh, down from 4,614mAh – and yet (according to unofficial data) it will last up to 72 hours with Extreme Battery Saver, 50% longer than 48 hours advertised for the Pixel 6. Without this power-saving mode, the Pixel 7 will last up to 31 hours in some tests.

The larger Pixel 7 Pro will have exactly the same battery capacity as its predecessor – 5,000mAh – but also promises up to 72 hours of use with Extreme Battery Saver (compared to the 6 Pro’s 48 hours). The larger display on this puts a strain on the battery, so it should last around 27 hours of regular use.

The two new models are also carrying a new selfie camera, a 10.8MP unit. Some rumors have claimed that it will have autofocus, but the latest report of Win Future he says otherwise. Furthermore, the camera will not be identical between the two phones: on the Pro it will have a FoV of 93 °, while on the Pixel 7 it will be slightly wider at 97 °.

Likewise, the ultra-wide cameras on the back are said to have different fields of view: 125 ° on the pro model and 106 ° not so wide on the vanilla model. This sounds rather odd, so we’ll be waiting for official confirmation in a couple of days (both models had 114th targets last year).

The main camera should be the same with a 50 MP (1 / 1.3 ”) sensor and OIS (f / 1.85, 82 ° lens). The vanilla phone will rely on its Super Res Zoom feature to zoom in, while the Pro model will have a dedicated 4.8x periscope lens (compared to 4.0x on the 6 Pro) with a 48MP sensor behind.

Displays will also be an important differentiator. The Pro will sport a 6.7-inch (1,440 x 3,120 px) AMOLED panel with a resolution of 120 Hz and a peak brightness of 1,500 nits. The Pixel 6 will be a tenth of an inch smaller than its predecessor with a 6.32-inch (1,080 x 2,400 px) goLED panel, 90 Hz refresh rate, and 1,400 nits peak brightness. Both will have metal frames and Gorilla Glass Victus on the front.

Pixel 7 and 7 Pro will be officially unveiled on October 6th (Thursday) and unofficial information suggests that they will go on sale a week later on the 13. The Pixel 7 is expected to start at € 650, its Pro sibling will be € 900. This is with different memory options, mind you: 8/128 GB for the vanilla model and 12/128 GB for Pro.
