The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is here and we had a chance to spend some time with it. We used it, among other things, to capture some camera samples with the new AI-powered “Quad Tele” camera system, as Samsung calls it.
A word before moving on to the photos: these shots are more of an impromptu look than a dedicated test. And we reserve our critical judgment for review, when we have shots taken in a controlled environment.
Samsung has gone from the 3x + 10x configuration on the Galaxy S22 Ultra and S23 Ultra to a 3x + 5x configuration on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The new 5x camera has a much larger 1/2.6-inch sensor that Samsung says will be able to capture 10x photos that are just as good as the dedicated zoom unit it replaces.
The 50MP 5x telephoto lens has 2x wider OIS angle and 1.6x larger pixels than the 10MP 10X telephoto lens, and is supported by the remarkable AI prowess of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. It brings ProVision Engine, which ensures better noise performance, as well as superior image characteristics.
