1440p support for PlayStation 5 is out of beta and starts rolling out globally today. This is ideal for gamers using 1440p monitors. Well, almost ideal.

The 1440p only supports 60Hz and 120Hz output, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) is not available. VRR is only supported for 1080p and 2160p modes.

Aside from the resolution changes, this update enables “game lists” or just folders. You can create up to 15 game lists with up to 100 items per list (these could be disc, digital, and streaming games).

Additionally, this update makes it easier to rewind a game by showing the last activity you were engaged with the last time you played. And if you want to experience 3D audio, it’s now much easier to switch between it and regular stereo audio to see which one you prefer.

A new feature is available in preview: YouTube search using voice commands. You can say “Hey, PlayStation, find on YouTube “and the YouTube app will open and search (even during gameplay). Note that this is only available in English and only for US and UK registered PS5 players for now (again, it’s a preview).

These are the new features arriving today, but there are some major updates to the PS app for Android and iOS coming later this month.

When the app receives the update, you will be able to start a PS Remote Play session directly from your phone or tablet, just make sure the PlayStation 5 is in rest mode.

The PS app will be updated to allow you to initiate remote play sessions and to request screen sharing sessions from friends

Additionally, the PS app will allow you to request a screen sharing session from your friends so you can watch them play (or to facilitate coordination).
