Battlefield 1 was a jolt for a series that had lost its luster. Unfortunately, its Battlefield V sequel doesn’t seem all that refreshing. This is partly due to the setting change. While the previous game explores Word War I, battlefield V returns to the tired era of World War II.

As with most of EA’s online games, patches have filled it with content since its release in 2018. Not all franchises need to reinvent themselves with every sequel, but Battlefield V doesn’t do much to alter the formula. Thankfully, a number of subtle changes and improvements make this game feel like a worthy successor for fans of the series.

Presentation

For starters, it looks great. Battlefield 1 only hit the shelves in 2016, but Battlefield V has a notable visual update. Of course, this is to be expected. The series is known for its show and size, and this game is no different.

It’s hard to ignore the adrenaline rush when fighting on the front lines of an online match, especially with the series’ dynamic new climate and destructible environments.

The stellar sound design didn’t miss a beat either. Beautiful scores that enhance the experience and help immerse the player further. The aesthetic never seems to take a step back, which is definitely a plus for Battlefield V.
