Set on the diverse continent of Tyria, Guild Wars 2 is an ever-expanding MMORPG that doesn’t actually force you to do something you don’t want to do. ArenaNet, the creators of Guild Wars 2, you’ve decided to create a game that doesn’t require you to spend hours preparing yourself for fun rather than just having fun. And you will see that philosophy in all aspects of the game.

MMORPGs generally end up becoming one thing: the gear of the gears. Always chasing that slightly better piece of gear so you can play the content you really want. Game designers spend countless hours finding ways to make the routine a little less boring. Guild Wars 2 it just removes it completely. If you want to stop working and start playing an MMORPG then Guild Wars 2 it might be the refreshing alternative you need.

The premise of the game is this: Elder Dragons are awakening throughout Tyria, upsetting the balance of the world and creating some continent-sized problems. With large-scale problems (and Elder Dragons are often the size of mountains) comes the need for an indomitable hero. That’s where your story begins.

Fight

Combat in Guild Wars 2 isn’t monotonous or repetitive. He is fast-paced, active, and demands attention. You don’t mindlessly scroll through hotkeys while watching a slowly shrinking health bar.

There are constant visual cues to watch out for, combos to perform with your skills and those of other players, and a dodge skill that can be used at critical moments to avoid death.

There is no competition with other people for the loot. Instead, the game is designed to bring people together on the map to complete events and missions that are too difficult to tackle alone. And in the end, everyone gets rewarded.

You may find yourself fighting an elite water djinn in the Crystal Desert. He is strong and you are just there waiting, slowly making a dent in his health. But then you get it wrong, he gets a big hit and knocks you down.

Just then, another player runs and distracts the djinn while a third one picks you up. Together, you continue the fight and take it down. That feeling of accomplishment and collaboration is the height of Guild Wars 2.
