Chocolate Fondue

Winter, the Christmas air that you breathe when you go out through the streets of the city, brings such warmth, and such a desire to enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate. It is the right time to let yourself be pampered by chocolate. Chocolate fondue is a ritual that we can offer our guests to delight a hot chocolate, but in a richer and more gourmet version. It is in fact custom, as is done with classic cheese fondues, that of dip, dip and directly drown different ingredients in the delicious chocolate cream. We can use fruit, cookies, treats, meringues, marshmallows, and whatever you want to experiment with. Americans eat chocolate-covered bacon too, so don’t worry! Many bars and chocolatiers offer a palette of chocolate fondue accompanied by various delicacies. Preparing it at home is not at all complicated, indeed it will allow us to customize it. We will need chocolate and cream bars, to heat and melt together. The procedure is very similar to the one we use to prepare the chocolate ganache, the doses of the cream differ. Ganache is a generally denser cream, which is used as a filling for chocolates and sweets, or as a topping for cakes. Depending on the use, the ratio between cream and chocolate varies. Fondue, on the other hand, has a more liquid consistency, which allows us to dip the chosen ingredients, and looks more similar to the classic hot chocolate that we prepare with ready-made sachets by adding milk. In the case of fondue, the chocolate flavor remains more intense. There are real kits in which to serve the chocolate fondue, with a stove to keep it warm, and forks to facilitate consumption. There is also the chocolate fountain, a device that chops, heats the chocolate, and lets it fall like a fountain, the fondue in which to dip fruit and much more. It is truly a sight for the eyes!

Curiosity:

We can customize our fondue by adding flavors such as chilli powder, cinnamon, or orange peel. We can make it alcoholic by adding a glass of rum or brandy.

We can also make a palette with different fondues, dark, milk, white, using the corresponding chocolates.
