ZTE will introduce the Axon 40 series next Monday and we know it will have at least three phones: Axon 40, Axon 40 Pro and Axon 40 Ultra. Vanilla will come with a full-screen experience thanks to third-generation technology for an under-display front camera, the Ultra will have three 64MP shooters on the back, and we now have a spicy camera-related teaser on the Pro too: will have a 100MP shooter.

The company also confirmed that the series will carry a designated security chip that would elevate hardware protection to another level.

The 100 MP claim likely means that ZTE will implement the Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor in the Axon 40 Pro. The Korean manufacturer is currently the only company capable of producing mobile imaging platforms with such high resolution and the HM2 is ‘latest version.

The sensor size is 1 / 1.33 “and supports PDAF, Laser AF and OIS – we expect all this technology to arrive at the Axon 40 Pro. The image also showed 6 layers in front of the real sensors, which means it will be a true 6P lens with an f / 1.8 aperture.

The security chip will also be a first for ZTE. While we don’t have details on its features, we can expect it will contain sensitive data like fingerprint scanners, passwords, and credit card information, so it’s not in memory where it might be most vulnerable to attack.

All the details will be revealed in a week, but we expect ZTE to have more features in the days leading up to the event.
