Realme introduced the GT Neo 5 with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and the world’s fastest charging for a smartphone earlier this month. Reports out of China suggest the company is working on a phone, likely called the GT Neo 5 SE or GT Neo 5 Lite, that will have slightly reduced specs.
According to credible leakster Digital Chat Station, the phone will pack the as-yet-unannounced Qualcomm SM7475 SoC, which is rumored to be a Snapdragon 7 Gen 2. It will also skip the 50MP camera with Sony IMX890 sensor and RGB notification light on the back, which will allow for a significant reduction in price.
The new GT Neo 5 variant will have a 64MP camera with an Omnivision OV64M sensor which is yet to be announced. From a design point of view, the camera island will also eliminate the transparent window, showing the Snapdragon chipset and make room for the basic configuration.
Charging is the main selling point of the Realme GT Neo 5 duo (there’s one with 240W and another with 150W). The next iteration would have a 5,500mAh battery with “only” 100W charging, which might be slow in the context of the GT Neo 5 phones but is still among the fastest standard on the market.
