YouTube is reportedly testing a new ad-supported service: TV channel streaming. The company is currently in talks with various companies to bring TV shows, movies and entire TV channels to its platform. In fact, YouTube has said it’s already testing the service, and a few select YouTubers are testing the waters.

YouTube may soon start streaming TV channels for free

For now, YouTube is measuring viewer interest and if all goes to plan, the Google-owned service could ask for a 45% cut in ad revenue. This is actually YouTube’s deal with content creators as well.

This appears to be yet another push from YouTube to expand. Most recently, the streaming platform struck a deal with NFL Sunday Ticket and will be streamed on YouTube TV and Primetime YouTube channels, starting this year. It’s also starting to share its ad revenue with the creators of YouTube Shorts, which would make the service more profitable than TikTok.
