Xiaomi launched the 14 and 14 Pro smartphones with three 50MP cameras, but left the Ultra member for a later announcement. According to a new report, it will feature quad 50MP cameras and a faster f/1.6-f/4.0 variable aperture on the main sensor.

A variable aperture solution is nothing new for Xiaomi. The Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro have a two-stage lens that can switch between f/1.4 and f/4.0, and while the f/1.6 stop on the Ultra is slightly slower, it will likely make up for it with a much larger sensor. It will also improve the f/1.9 of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.

Previous reports pointed to a Sony LYT-900 sensor for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra’s main camera. This rumor, combined with a new Xiaomi feature that allows the lens to change during video, depending on the amount of light hitting the sensor, could significantly improve the Ultra’s camera capabilities.
