The next camera-obsessed vivo flagships are here – the X80 series proudly displays the ZEISS brand and uses some impressive image sensors. But is it enough for you to part with your hard-earned cash?

We should note that the two phones were unveiled in China this week, but the global launch is scheduled for next Sunday. So, we will work with Chinese prices for now.

The vivo X80 Pro starts at CNY 5,500 ($ 840 / € 790 / ₹ 63,700). It features lots of custom hardware, including the 50MP 1 / 1.3 ”ISOCELL GNV sensor and the updated vivo V1 + ISP. The main camera has a very bright f / 1.57 aperture and optical stabilization. The 12MP ultra-wide-angle module features gimbal stabilization, as well as two telephoto lenses: one 2x (suitable for portraits) and one with 5x optical magnification.

The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or Dimensity 9000 chipset and a 4,700mAh battery with 80W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. The price listed above is for the base 8 / 256GB model with the chip Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, but configurations go up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The Dimensity 9000 variant will be available in 12/256 GB and 12/512 GB configurations.

The vivo X80 is priced below CNY 3,700 ($ 560 / € 535 / ₹ 42,900). Like its sibling, it has a large 6.78 “AMOLED display (Samsung E5), however, the Pro has an LTPO2 panel and this does not. The maximum refresh rate is still 120 Hz.

This model is the first to use the new Sony IMX866 sensor (1 / 1.49 ”), a 50 MP sensor with RGBW filter. It sits behind an f / 1.75 lens with OIS. Additionally, there is a 12MP ultrawide camera and a 2x portrait lens.

The X80’s battery is smaller, 4,500mAh, but retains 80W wired fast charging (not 50W wireless charging, though). One final note: the base configuration has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage (half of what the Pro offers), the top offering corresponds to the premium model at 12 / 512GB.

What else can you buy instead of a vivo X-phone? Well, Xiaomi 12 Pro is cheaper than the Pro at CNY 5,000, but offers a 6.73-inch 120Hz AMOLED (LTPO) display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 50MP main camera (1 / 1.28-inch sensor ), ultrawide 50MP (no optical stabilization) and a 2x 50MP telephoto lens (no periscope), plus a 4,600mAh battery with 120W wired and 50W wireless charging.

The OnePlus 10 Pro costs CNY 5,000 (for the same 8/256 GB memory configuration) and also has a large LTPO2 panel – 6.7 ”120Hz AMOLED. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, of course, and you get a 48MP (1 / 1.43 “), 50MP ultra wide angle (150 ° FoV) main camera, plus an 8MP telephoto module (3, 3x) The 5,000mAh battery charges at 80W (65W for US model) via cable and 50W wirelessly.

The Oppo Find X5 Pro is also available in Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Dimensity 9000 variants, an 8 / 256GB drive will earn you CNY 6,000 (€ 1,300 in Europe). The Oppo and OnePlus share the Hasselblad brand and influence on their cameras: the Find X5 Pro in particular has a 50MP (1 / 1.56 “) main with OIS + sensor shift, a 50MP ultrawide ( 1 / 1.56 “) and a 13MP (2x) telephoto lens, plus a custom MariSilicon ISP. The display is another 6.7 inch 120Hz AMOLED LTPO2, the battery is a 5,000mAh power cell with 80W wired and 50W wireless charging.

The Xiaomi 12 equals its opponent at CNY 3,700, but opts for a smaller package with a 6.28 “(120Hz AMOLED) display and an 8 Gen 1 Snapdragon. It has a 50MP main camera (1/1 Quad Bayer sensor). 1.56 “), 13MP ultrawide and no telephoto lens (unless you count the telemacro module). The battery has the same capacity, 4,500 mAh, with a similar charge (67W).

The Poco F4 GT launched this week is essentially a global version of the Redmi K50 Gaming (which costs 3,000 CNY in China). We’re looking at comparable screens (6.67 “120Hz AMOLED on the Poco / Redmi), a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, a fairly simple camera setup (64 + 8 + 2 MP), and a 4,700mAh battery with 120W fast charging .
