Yesterday, rumors started making the rounds, suggesting that Oppo and OnePlus are exiting key European markets, including the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and France.

Representatives from OnePlus were quick to dismiss the rumor, followed closely by Oppo, both making official statements about their companies’ dedication to European markets.

James Patterson, Global PR Manager of OnePlus, told the media:

OnePlus will not exit Europe and the UK and maintain stable operations in local markets. OnePlus will continue to invest in Europe and provide more innovative products and solutions to its users.

The Oppo EU spokesperson told us the company has big plans for 2023 and is busy in all existing European markets.

We have had a great start to 2023 with the successful launch of several products in Europe and have a range of upcoming products for the rest of the year. As always, Oppo will continue to provide more innovative products and the best service for users moving forward.

The wording on this is quite baffling, as Oppo only talks about its plans for this year rather than declaring its long-term commitments to Europe. Or we may be reading too much about it: we should know the truth soon enough.

OnePlus recently launched its flagship OnePlus 11, which is an all-around phone with little to complain about. The Oppo Find X6 Pro was announced last week with “three main cameras” but it hasn’t escaped China, leaving the Find N2 Flip as the only flagship Oppo smartphone in Europe.
