The vivo Developer Conference kicked off today with the introduction of Origin OS 4, based on Android 14. It brings with it a bunch of new features, a UI redesign, and performance improvements, but sadly there are no plans to bring it to the phones outside China.
It has already been confirmed that international units will receive Funtouch 14.
Performance improvements include faster app response, enabled by a “virtual graphics card.” It reduces app opening and closing times by 36% and increases frame rate stability by 70%.
What actually happens is that the operating system prioritizes on-screen activity, allocating more resources from the CPU and GPU and blocking “irrelevant calculations”.

Visual improvements include over 2,000 redesigned icons to improve visual comfort. The company has introduced a custom Sans alive font throughout the system, and there are also UI interactions with real-time blur effects, contextual backgrounds, and lock screen customizations.

The new version of Origin OS also includes vivo smart car 4.0. It is the brand’s alternative to Android Auto, which is not available in China. It’s the interface you get when you connect your smartphone to supported cars.
Other China-specific features that are unlikely to make it globally are the new AI-powered Blue Heart Jr V assistant and Family Health, which tracks other family members’ smart devices in a neat widget.
