Perhaps Apple should consider bringing back the “S” model names, because the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus failed to impress in last week’s poll. The consensus is that those two don’t have any exciting upgrades over the 13 series, so they might as well have been called the “13S”.

Most people just aren’t interested, but our global audience loves Android, so it’s not too unexpected. Of those who have considered buying a vanilla iPhone, most have come to the decision that it would be better to save some money and get an older model.

The overall price of the new series has really hurt him. While the iPhone 14, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max cost the same as their predecessors in the US, Canada, and China, their launch prices are significantly higher in several markets. Not to mention, the older iPhones 13 and 13 minis have experienced price cuts in some regions.

This is why we thought the iPhone 14 Plus would fare better – it’s a new combination of size and price for Apple’s range of phones. However, the response has been strongly negative with many people saying that it is too expensive or that they would have opted for an older model and only a handful actually interested in buying one. It seems that Apple has really misinterpreted the market: early reports from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo indicate that the iPhone 14 Plus is less popular than the iPhone mini. It’s not entirely clear how accurate these numbers are, but the people of Cupertino may be in trouble.

iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max received a warm welcome – not everyone’s favorite yet, but the complaints were centered around price rather than lack of updates or features. The two Pros don’t feel like the “S” models as they bring new chipsets (with a big GPU boost), adequate screen and camera upgrades as well. But parts of Europe in particular have been hit quite hard by price increases.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max is impressive hardware, but it’s also one of the most expensive phones on the market. Based on Kuo’s report, the Pro Max is the only model that is experiencing greater demand this year than its predecessor last year. The smaller Pro was on the level of the 2021 model, the vanilla-colored iPhone 14 was below the mark.

Predictably, removing the physical SIM slot isn’t a popular decision, and commentators were guessing which Android manufacturer would be the first to follow (as someone pointed out, the 2019 Moto Razr was already eSIM-only, but that model didn’t have a huge impact on the market). Hopefully this will remain a thing only for the United States.

There weren’t many people talking about the SOS functionality via satellite. It will be much harder for other manufacturers to imitate, but it’s not seen as a game changer either. We will see how it will develop. Another thing to watch out for over the next 12 months is whether Apple will adopt USB-C for iPhone as planned, now it looks like it could push some commentators over the fence.
