Motorola’s ever-expanding mid-range G-line is set to expand even more in the next few weeks or so. And one of the upcoming models is the Moto G42, already leaked in neat print renders earlier this month. The phone has also been certified by a group of regulatory bodies and we now have an additional piece to its puzzle.
This is because a Moto G42 prototype used Geekbench 5 and, as usual, that means its results are now available to the world in the benchmark’s online database. Not only that, though, but a couple of important specs as well.
That is to say, thanks to the benchmark performed we now know that the chipset that powers the device is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 680. The prototype in question had 4GB of RAM, but it goes without saying that there may also be 6GB versions. As for the results: the G42 achieved a single-core score of 376 and a multi-core score of 1,538. Not that you should necessarily pay attention to those – this is a prototype we are talking about after all.
The Moto G42 is obviously supposed to be the successor to the G41 announced last November but actually only launched in January – Motorola’s launch times are getting pretty weird indeed. Anyway, like that model, the G42 is expected to sport an AMOLED screen and will run Android 12 from day one.
