Sony has just started rolling out the Android 14 update to the Xperia 1 V. The firmware brings the improved Bokeh mode from the Xperia 5 V, as well as the new Video Creator app. Sony announced the Video Creator app as part of Android 14, although it had previously released it for Xperia 1 V users as a downloadable app.
Bokeh mode is Sony’s Portrait mode and was much more impressive on the Xperia 5 V, so it’s great news that Sony has brought it to the 1 V.
The Video Creator app is an interesting app also available on the Xperia 5 V: it lets you create videos automatically (including music) by choosing the clips you want; the app then does the rest, a bit like Google Photos’ new Video Highlight. However, if you want to dig deeper, Sony’s Video Creator app gives you complex control and tools for advanced users.
The update may take a few days to reach everyone. Sony is installing Android 14 on the Xperia 1 V – no word on firmware for the Xperia 5 V yet.
