Motorola unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 powered Edge 40 Pro earlier this month, which was supposed to be joined by the Edge 40, but that didn’t happen. And while we await more details on Motorola’s Edge 40 launch, the smartphone has appeared on Geekbench, suggesting that the launch is near.
The Motorola Edge 40 unit that ran through the benchmark database scored 1,105 and 3,542 points respectively in Geekbench 6’s single and multi-core tests. The unit ran Android 13, had 8GB of onboard RAM, and was powered by the MediaTek’s MT6891Z_Z/CZA SoC, consisting of four cores clocked at 2GHz and four at 2.6GHz.
Geekbench doesn’t mention the name of the SoC, but rumors say that the Motorola Edge 40 will have MediaTek’s Dimensity 8020 chip at the helm. It’s also worth noting that the “MT6891Z_Z/CZA” designator mentioned in the CPU info section of the Geekbench listing resembles the model designation of the Dimensity 1100, which is MT6891Z/CZA. Additionally, the Dimension 1100 also has an eight-core CPU, four of which have a maximum clock frequency of 2GHz, while the other four clock up to 2.6GHz.
Benchmarks sometimes get the details wrong, so we’ll have to wait for other sources to confirm this piece about the Motorola Edge 40 SoC to be sure.
Motorola Edge 40 in Viva Magenta
The rest of the Motorola Edge 40’s leaked specs include a 6.55-inch 144Hz FullHD+ pOLED display, up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and a 4,400mAh battery with 68W wired and 15W wireless charging. .
The smartphone will come with a 50MP primary camera (with OIS), a 13MP ultrawide camera, and a 32MP selfie unit. It will sport an in-display fingerprint scanner and feature stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos tuning. The Motorola Edge 40 will also have an IP68 rating.

The Motorola Edge 40 is said to be available in Nebula Green, Lunar Blue, Eclipse Black and Viva Magenta colors which have already been leaked online.
