Samsung is tidying up its app wallet by merging Samsung Pay and Samsung Pass in the unified Samsung Wallet app. The app merger process started in South Korea last week and is now expanding to the US, France, Italy, Spain, UK and Germany. We can expect more regions to be added in the coming months.

The new unified Samsung Wallet app can hold payments, subscriptions and gift cards, as well as digital keys, IDs, health and boarding cards, and digital assets such as blockchain wallets. The digital car key feature will be supported on some BMW cars manufactured after July 2020, as well as on several Hyundai and Genesis models from 2021. Driver’s license and student IDs will be supported at a later time. The existing Samsung Pass functionality will still cover password management and access to digital assets such as cryptocurrencies.
