Samsung’s new folds have arrived at your fingertips, and we’ve got a quick unboxing and impressions of the Galaxy Z Flip4 for you before giving you our full review. By the way, we also have a more detailed practice with both the Flip4 and the larger Fold4 that you can also check out.

Our Galaxy Z Flip4 review unit comes in stealth graphite black, just like our Z Fold4. It came in a slim box with a USB-C cable and a SIM eject tool. The Galaxy Z Flip4 greets you face down in its open state wrapped in plastic. The new black color is a bit darker than last year’s Z Flip3 and still features a predominantly matte finish that contrasts with the glossy surface around the cover screen.

The Z Flip4 is squarer on the sides than its predecessor and the build is still excellent with its aluminum sides and Gorilla Glass Victus + back. Opening the phone reveals the 6.7-inch main screen which has slightly thinner bezels which add to a more immersive experience. The crease in the center is still visible with some lighting and is noticeable when scrolling.

This generation Z Flip has a more useful cover screen that still measures 1.9 inches but can now display more widgets and trigger even quicker settings controls. It also lets you use the highly updated 12MP main camera and 12MP ultrawide cameras for selfies. As usual, we’ll have a full camera section in the review to see how the cameras perform in the real world.

The other major area for improvement this year is battery capacity and charging speed. The Z Flip4 gets a 3,700mAh cell that supports charging speeds of 25W. That’s it for this quick unboxing and key functionality, stay tuned for the full review to come.
