Samsung would have stopped development of the Galaxy S22 FE and the phone will not see the light. The report comes from South Korean media The Elec, which says chip shortages and increased demand for the Galaxy S22 Ultra have prompted the manufacturer to make this tough decision.

The good news is that the FE series will not be discontinued as plans are to see a Samsung Galaxy S23 FE next year.

Samsung stops development of the Galaxy S22 FE, allocates resources to the production of S22 Ultra

Samsung Galaxy S22 FE was supposed to have the same flagship chipsets as the Ultra, but the excellent performance of the flagship S Pen-touting prompted the manufacturer to rethink its strategy for 2022. Samsung planned to produce 3 million units of the Fan Edition and the number will remain the target for S23 FE.

However, Samsung is reportedly going strong towards its target of 10 million units sold of the Galaxy S22 Ultra and needed to reallocate more resources for its production.

Preliminary plans for 2023 foresee Samsung to sell 30% more than Ultras, or 13 million units. The vanilla Galaxy S23 is expected to hit 8.5 million units, while the Plus will be the least loved by customers with just 6.5 million expected sales.
