The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 is expected to bring major updates to the main camera trio and iterative improvements to everything else. In recent weeks we have seen leaks about this or that detail, now the leakster Yogesh Brar has published an overview of the expected specifications.

The star of the show – the foldable display inside – will presumably remain at 7.6 ”. Samsung is said to be working on reducing the crease. Part of the effort to improve this display includes using stronger Super UTGs. The 6.2-inch internal display and external displays will still use 120 Hz AMOLED panels with resolutions that remain on the same playing field, albeit with slightly different aspect ratios.

Moving on to the cameras, Brar writes that the main module on the back will have a 50MP sensor (and not a 108MP one as suggested by some rumors). This is still an improvement over the 12MP model of the third generation, and the extra resolution will help bridge the gap with the longer telephoto lens: 3x optical magnification (from 2x). The resolution for telephoto and ultra wide-angle cameras will be kept at 12MP.

The in-display (internal) selfie camera is reported as 16 MP, but this was also the physical resolution on the Z Fold3. However, the more complicated image processing required binning up to 4MP. Whether this will happen again this year remains to be seen. The perforated (external) selfie cam will remain at 10 MP.

Samsung is expected to ramp up processing power with the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 along with more RAM: 12 or 16GB, compared to just 12GB. Storage should be the same with the 256GB and 512GB options. The phone is expected to maintain battery capacity at 4,400mAh and charge rate at 25W.

That’s all. The Galaxy Z Fold4 will bring back some features of the Z Fold3, things like IPX8 water resistance, stereo speakers, advanced connectivity, and S Pen support. Still without a stylus slot, though.

Samsung has reportedly started mass production of the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Z Flip4, so it should be well on its way to its usual August launch. Analysts predict that the company is building double each model this year, expecting strong sales.
