Xiaomi launched the Redmi 12 in Thailand earlier this month and we received the phone at our HQ for a review. As per the sources, the entry-level smartphone is not widely available but may soon be launched in India.

The phone will have market specific software V14.0.2.0.TMXINXM as revealed by Xiaomiui. As the custom software is now finalized, it is up to Redmi India to schedule a launch for the local audience.

The software is typically Indian, indicated by the letter IN in the version number. We have the same device, but our drive comes with the letters EU in the same spot, as we’re looking at a drive for the European market. The differences are usually in the languages ​​available and some market-specific details, such as the default browser and whether or not certain apps may or may not come pre-installed.

Redmi 12 is a great smartphone for the dominant LTE markets with a Helio G88 chipset and up to 8GB of RAM. It comes with a 5,000mAh battery and a 50MP main camera and will cost around €200 for European customers. Customers in India may find it cheaper, but we have to wait for the official launch to know for sure.
