The latest addition to the HMD range is here with the Nokia G42, a mid-range offering with a focus on repairability. HMD is partnering with iFixit to bring repair guides and OEM parts including displays, batteries and charging ports for the G42 for five years to come. This is also HMD’s first user serviceable 5G phone. The back of the G42 is made from recycled plastic and houses a 50MP (f/1.8) main camera along with a 2MP macro cam and 2MP depth module.

There is a Snapdragon 480+ chipset at the helm along with 4/6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage which is further expandable via the microSD card slot. G42 launches Android 13 and HMD promises two years of OS updates and three years of monthly security patches.

The phone packs a 5,000mAh battery with 20W fast charging that HMD says will last for three days with average usage. The battery is rated to retain 80% of its original capacity after 800 charge cycles. Other notable features include an IP52 certification, a headphone jack, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
