The Poco family is growing with two new members today. One has a passion for gaming and brings the first 144Hz display in the series, the other tries to be an all-rounder with his “first” – the first OIS camera on a Poco phone.

Little X4 GT

Normally, the F series is the pride and joy of the Poco line. However, the Poco X4 GT arrives with the exciting Dimensity 8100, a mid-range chipset born in TSMC’s 5nm factories with four Cortex-A78 cores and a new Mali-G610 MC6 GPU. This chip has posted some impressive results and usually outperforms the Snapdragon 870 (and can hold its own against the 888 too).

The GT has a passion for gaming, which is evident in the 144Hz display, the fastest refresh rate in the family. The sampling rate of the touch is 270 Hz. This is a 6.6 inch LCD with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,460 px (20.5: 9) and can render 1 billion colors (also supports Dolby Vision). Peak brightness is 650 nits (typical 500 nits) and the panel uses DC attenuation. Plus, it’s guarded by Gorilla Glass 5 (the X3 GT had Victus).

Returning to the chipset, it uses LiquidCool 2.0 technology for heat management with a 32% larger vapor chamber than the X3 GT, plus there are now 7 layers of graphite.

The chipset is paired with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 memory.

Little listened to your requests and brought back the 3.5mm headphone jack. This means there’s no Bluetooth latency to worry about and you can charge your phone while you play. Speaking of which, the phone has a 5,080mAh battery that charges at 67W with the included power supply. A full 0-100% charge takes 46 minutes. This battery is big enough to gorge on video for 22 hours straight. In addition to headphones, you can also use the dual Dolby Atmos certified speakers.

The display is a bit taller than last year’s model, which allowed Poco to have a width of over a millimeter, making the laptop more comfortable in the hand. The weight has slightly increased to 200g (from 193g). The X4 GT is available in black, blue and silver.

The GT model is equipped with a 64 MP camera with a larger sensor than last year (1 / 1.72 ”, 0.8µm native pixels, 1.6µm with binning). It’s flanked by an 8MP (1.12µm) 120 ° ultra wide-angle camera, plus a 2MP macro camera. On the front there is a 20 MP selfie camera (1 / 3.06 ”, 1.0µm).

A few more things to note. The first is the side-mounted fingerprint reader. The second is the linear motor of the X axis. Wireless connectivity includes 5G, of course, Wi-Fi 6 (ax), Bluetooth 5.3, NFC and there is also an IR blaster.

Little F4

The Snapdragon 870 was good enough for last year’s F3, is it good enough for the new Poco F4? It remains to be seen: the goal with the F4 was to improve camera and battery technology. If you want cutting-edge performance, the F4 GT has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Let’s go back to Poco F4. It is the first in the family to feature Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). Apart from that, the main camera is nothing to write home about with its 1/2 ”sensor (0.7µm pixel, 1.4µm with binning) and f / 1.8 aperture. Like on the X4 GT, it’s flanked by an ultra wide (119 °) and 2MP 8MP macro module on the rear and a 20MP selfie camera on the front.

As for charging, the battery has essentially the same capacity as the F3, 4,500mAh. However, the charge level was doubled to 67W (adapter included), compared to 33W. This reduced the full charge time by 0-100% from 52 minutes to 38 minutes.

The display is the same as last year: a 6.67-inch AMOLED (Samsung E4) with 120 Hz refresh rate and 360 Hz touch sample rate. It has a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 px (20: 9 ) and a peak brightness of 1,300 nits (900 nits typical). This is an HDR10 + display which now also supports Dolby Vision. Physical protection is handled by Gorilla Glass 5. Little claims professional-grade color adjustment with the TrueColor feature, but it hasn’t provided any deltaE numbers.

Like its sibling, the F4 has a side-mounted fingerprint reader and an X-axis linear motor. It also has two Dolby Atmos speakers, but no 3.5mm jack. However, it is equipped with an IR blaster.
