introduction

Oppo is launching Reno7 5G with two names in Europe and India. The Reno 7 5G launches in India (and likely parts of Eastern Europe), while the rest of Europe is getting it as the Find X5 Lite. The two models are identical in specifications as you can see.

We won’t pretend we can make sense of Oppo’s Reno7 mid-range series, but we can definitely review them just as if they had been formalized, in no particular order. So, today we have probably one of the most interesting examples of the Reno7 group: the Oppo Reno7 5G.

The Reno7 5G isn’t just a 5G-enabled version of the global Reno7 smartphone as it has a different camera setup, a different chipset, a different charging speed, and even a different storage space.

The Oppo Reno7 5G / Find X5 Lite is a pretty cool offering. It’s a lightweight plastic phone built around a 6.43-inch AMOLED with 1080p resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, and HDR10 support. Below is the Dimensity 900 5G chipset, which should be perfect for casual gaming and smooth overall performance.

The camera setup is familiar enough as it has somewhat become a gold standard for the mid-range: there’s a 64MP high-resolution main camera, an 8MP ultrawide shooter, and a 2MP imager for the close-ups. On the other side, inside a small perforation of the display, is a 32 MP selfie camera.

The Reno7 5G / Find X5 Lite is powered by a 4,500mAh battery that supports 65W VOOC charging. The power supply comes with the phone and should fully charge in half an hour. You can bet we would put it to the test.

Oppo advertises the Reno7 5G / Find X5 Lite for its camera capabilities and portrait capabilities, fast charging and gaming-friendly chipset with adequate cooling. And it really is a handheld and pocket-sized device that is 160mm tall and weighs 173g.

If you’re familiar with the Oppo Reno6 5G, you might notice that this Reno7 5G is pretty much the same phone with upgraded memory, increased battery capacity, HDR10 screen certification, and an audio jack. Lack of sensible updates is somewhat of a theme in 2022, actually quite common. So, Reno6 5G users are skipping this one for sure.

Let’s scroll through its spec sheet now.

The specifications of the Oppo Reno7 5G / Find X5 Lite at a glance:

  • Body: 160.6×73.2×7.8mm, 173g; Gorilla Glass 5 front, plastic frame, plastic back.
  • Screen: 6.43 “AMOLED, 90 Hz, HDR10 +, 430 nits (typical), 600 nits (HBM), 800 nits (peak), 1080x2400px resolution, 20: 9 aspect ratio, 409ppi.
  • Chipset: MediaTek MT6877 Dimensity 900 (6 nm): Octa-core (2×2.4 GHz Cortex-A78 and 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55); Mali-G68 MC4.

  • Front Camera: 32 MP, f / 2.4, 24 mm (wide), 1 / 2.74 “, 0.8µm.

  • Various: Fingerprint reader (under display, optical); NFC; 3.5mm jack.

The Reno7 5G has one thing that has been downgraded from the Reno6 5G: the chassis. It is now made of plastic, one step less than the metal one on the Reno6.

Still, the Reno7 5G looks like an adequate all-round midranger – it also covers fan-favorite niche options like an audio jack, three-card slot with microSD expansion, NFC. Indeed, the only glaring omission is the lack of any entry protection. But if the price is right, this shouldn’t be a problem.

So without further ado, here’s the Oppo Reno7 5G unboxed.

Unboxing of the Oppo Reno7 5G

The Reno7 5G / Find X5 Lite comes packaged in one of these cool greenish Oppo boxes. Contains a 65W VOOC charger and a USB-AC cable required for VOOC charging to work.

There is also a transparent soft case inside the box, you can find it inside the black card compartment which is above the phone. And finally, once you take your phone out of the box, you will see that it comes with a thin protective film on the screen – it has been applied at the factory.

Film is a smudge magnet and we don’t like it, but we always appreciate having the extra scratch protection and we’re sure there are plenty of people who will also enjoy having it.
