Earlier this month, OnePlus kicked off its Open ad campaign with a promotional video that showed off the device from some, but not all, angles, and also hid what looked like a huge photo island on the back.

Today a usually reliable source brought us a bunch of leaked renders of the upcoming foldable smartphone, and these leave nothing to the imagination, showing off every single detail. And sure enough, there’s a giant camera island on the back.

The renderings suggest that the OnePlus Open will be offered in two colors: a black faux leather and a glass green. The phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which makes sense considering rumors that it will launch this month. But Qualcomm will introduce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 within a few days, and that will leave the Open in an awkward position.

Especially since this leak brings us a US price of $1,699, which is just $100 less than what the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 launched at. So it is not possible to place the Open in a more convenient position in the market to alleviate the use of what will almost immediately be a replaced chipset.

Anyway, the OnePlus Open will come with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of storage, a 6.31-inch external screen, and a 7.8-inch flexible main screen provided by BOE. It is said that it will be made official on October 19th. According to previous rumors, it will have a 48MP main camera, a 48MP ultrawide, and a 64MP 3x optical zoom camera.

The phone will come to at least the US and Europe, but not Germany due to the ongoing patent dispute between parent company Oppo and Nokia in the country.
