The nubia Red Magic 8S Pro gaming smartphone is coming on July 5, the gaming sub-brand confirmed on Weibo today. The launch event will start at 3pm and take place in China, and expectations are that the phone will be the same as the Red Magic 8 Pro but with a new Qualcomm chipset.

nubia confirms the arrival of July 5 for Red Magic 8S Pro

Rumors earlier this month suggested the 8S Pro would have a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 platform, but we’ve yet to hear anything from the San Diego-based company about a new SoC. We’ve also heard that a nubia gaming tablet might be on the way, but the ZTE-owned brand hasn’t mentioned anything on its page and the leaksters are keeping quiet on particular details that could hint at an eventual product launch.

Returning to the Red Magic 8S Pro, we expect the chipset to be the only difference from the Red Magic 8 Pro duo; everything else should be the same: big 6.8-inch flat AMOLED with an under-display selfie camera, 16GB of RAM, and plenty of fast charging.
