OnePlus has released OxygenOS 12 Open Beta 1 based on Android 12 for OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G announced in February with OxygenOS 11.3 based on Android 11.
The OxygenOS 12 Open Beta 1 brings an updated user interface and new features to the Nord CE 2 5G along with improvements to the OnePlus shelf and dark mode. You can check out the list of key updates below.

- Optimized desktop icons with improved textures, using a design inspired by brand new materials and blending lights and layers
- Optimized AI System Booster to 2.1 to support smooth system operation even when the load is high
- Optimized software algorithm and improved facial recognition to better identify the features and skin color of different figures

- Three adjustable levels recently added, providing a more personalized and comfortable user experience
- Shelf
- New style options added for tabs, making data content more visual and easier to read
- Newly added access to OnePlus Scout in Shelf, which allows you to search for more content on your phone, including apps, settings, media, etc.
- OnePlus Watch Card just added to the shelf, to easily take a look at your health status
- Balance between work and private life
- New Work Life Balance function, which allows you to easily switch between Work and Life mode via quick settings
- Newly supported auto change of work / life mode, based on specific locations, Wi-Fi network and time, also bringing custom app notification profiles based on customization
- Gallery
- Switching between different layouts recently supported with a two-finger pinch gesture, intelligent image recognition of better quality and content-based thumbnail cropping, making gallery layout more enjoyable
- AOD canvas
- New line styles and colors recently added, for a more personalized lock screen experience with inspiring images
- Recently added new brushes and strokes and support for color adjustment
But before proceeding with the installation of the update, you should be aware of the problems it presents. For starters, the time on the AOD is displayed abnormally and the video details do not include location information. And if you create a WhatsApp clone using the App Cloner feature, the cloned version may not play audio when the smartphone is connected to the wireless earphones.
