The Red Magic 9 Pro and Pro+ from ZTE’ nubia brand are now official and bring with them some of the most impressive specs yet seen in a gaming phone. Both new devices feature the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, refined design, side buttons and RGB cooling fans. The two models share the same basic hardware with differences in battery capacity, charging, and RAM capacity.
Both Red Magic 9 Pro phones feature 6.8-inch flat AMOLED screens made by BOE with 1,116 x 2,480 px resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, and sleek bezels with no visible cutout for the 16 MP front camera integrated under the display. Both devices’ panels have a maximum brightness of 1,600 nits and offer 2,160 Hz PWM dimming to combat eye pain. There is a UD fingerprint reader that doubles as a heart rate monitor.
The Red Magic 9 comes with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256/512GB of UFS 4.0 storage while the 9 Pro+ variant is configurable with 16/24GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. Both phones come with the updated ICE 13 cooling system which now covers a total area of 10,182mm2.

The refined cooling system is touted to lower the phone’s operating temperature by up to 18° and features a graphene layer under the screen and a larger air duct for better airflow. The fan inside the device now spins at 22,000 rpm and boasts 30% improved thermal conductivity.
All Red Magic 9 Pro models feature aircraft-grade aluminum frames and a completely flat glass back with no protruding camera sensors. The camera department features a 50MP main shooter based on Samsung’s GN5 sensor with OIS and a 50MP ultrawide lens. The software department is run by Red Magic OS 9.0 based on Android 14.
RedMagic 9 Pro design
The main differences between the two phones lie in battery capacity and charging speed: the Red Magic 9 features a 6,500 mAh battery with 80W wired charging while the 9 Pro+ has a smaller 5,500 mAh battery with stand for 165W fast charging. Both phones also feature Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, as well as a headphone jack and IR blaster.
Red Magic 9 Pro Series Color Options
Both phones are available in black, transparent white and transparent black. Red Magic 9 Pro starts at CNY4,399 ($620) for the base trim 8/256GB and goes up to CNY 5,399 (761) for the 12/512GB transparent versions.
Red Magic 9Pro+ starts at CNY 5,499 ($775) for the 16/256GB trim and goes up to CNY6,999 ($987) for the 24GB RAM and 1TB version. Open sales in China will begin on November 28, with international pricing and availability to be detailed at a later date.
