While we wait for its next smartphone, which will be a high-end offering boasting Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8-series chipset, Nothing is busy working on another product, which it started teasing a couple of days ago.

The new teaser tweet that the company released today seems to involve bugs, oddly enough. And the first one from two days ago is … even strange, in his own way.

While the company itself is, at the moment, keeping quiet about what exactly it is “cooking,” a leak comes to the rescue.

The leak shows us the image you can see below, which purports to be of Nothing’s upcoming speaker. Once you’ve been told that he’s a speaker, he makes sense. But first… It’s a very bold and unique design, one that could be forgotten very soon or become iconic in its own right and be taught in design schools in a decade or two.

Nothing's next speaker looks like any other speaker

The jury is still out on how this goes, of course. It looks like nothing will be making this speaker official any time soon, and then we’ll have more details for you, including answering the most important question: Why? No, wait, we meant: he’s a shrewd speaker? Oh, and also: how big is it really? Since the image above has no indication of scale, it’s impossible to tell.

What one can glean is that there is a handle at the top, a pair of ‘downstairs’ woofers and what appears to be two or three mid-level tweeters. The second from the left appears to have Nothing branding, which is why we’re not sure if it’s a tweeter or perhaps a digital LED sphere. Again, the announcement probably isn’t far off, so hang tight and we’ll let you know when we know more.
