Fossil announced a Wellness Edition of its Gen 6 smartwatch with Wear OS 3 out of the box on Friday. Today, all other Fossil Gen 6 devices are receiving an update.

The new package includes updated health and fitness tracking, an improved interface, and finally there is a link between the Fossil wearable and the Fossil app.

Today’s update arrives just in time, fulfilling Fossil’s promise that Gen 6 watches will move to Wear OS 3. The wearable device’s screen now has better readability, thanks to Google’s Material You design elements.

Pressing the top button opens a list of all recent apps, while holding down starts the voice assistant. The Quick Settings hue has also been improved with more options and a new look, as well as a switch between battery modes: daily or extended.

The Fossil app was already a thing, but for some reason the company has only allowed Gen 6 devices to connect with the Wear OS app so far. Now that this has changed, all customizations can be made in the native application and support for the Google app hasn’t changed – the user has the option to choose which app should be the default.
