The Motorola Defy Satellite Link is a very unique accessory, which was announced in February and is now finally available for purchase in the US.
It connects to your iPhone or Android device via Bluetooth and offers satellite connectivity. Satellite connectivity on phones has obviously become a hot topic lately thanks to Apple’s debut of its Emergency SOS service via satellite with the iPhone 14 family last year.
But the Motorola Defy Satellite Link doesn’t care what phone you have. Plus, it’s not just for emergencies — there are even more plans to choose from, and it comes bundled with the Essentials Messaging plan for a year, which includes 30 two-way messages sent via satellite each month. Other plans go up to 400 messages per month.
Defy Satellite Link is IP68 rated for dust and water resistance and MIL-SPEC-810H for drops. It can withstand immersion in 1.5m of water for 30 minutes and being dropped from 2m onto steel. It measures 85x62x11.2 mm and weighs 70 g. Use GPS, Glonass, Galileo and Beidou. The 600mAh battery provides up to four full days of standby time.
The Motorola Defy Satellite link can be yours for $149.99 from B&H, and should hit Amazon pretty soon too.
