Instagram launched Threads in October 2019 as a standalone app for chatting with Instagram Close Friends, but that app isn’t available now since Meta launched a new Threads app last week as a competitor to Twitter. It is available in over 100 countries, including the US and UK, but not in Europe. Threads is currently unavailable in most European countries, and we’ve taken additional steps to prevent people in those countries from accessing your threads. Europe continues to be a very important market for Meta and we hope to be able to bring Threads to more countries in the future.Meta said.

Meta confirms to block Europeans from using threads via VPN

Threads amassed 100 million users within a week of launch, and its expansion into European countries would only increase that number. However, chances are you won’t be able to download it in the Old Continent anytime soon, likely due to the upcoming Digital Markets Act (DMA).
