As expected, Honor unveiled the X40 today at a special event in China. The phone can already be ordered there, starting at CNY 1,499, which currently equates to $ 214.
The phone features a 6.67 inch 1080×2400 120Hz curved AMOLED screen with 800 nit high brightness mode and 300Hz touch sample rate, Snapdragon 695 chipset at the helm, and a 5,100mAh battery with support for 40W fast charging (and a charger in the box). The fingerprint scanner is below the display.
On the back we find a dual camera system, with a 50 MP main sensor with f / 1.8 aperture and a 2 MP auxiliary sensor. These are housed in the huge ring / circle, along with the LED flash. The text “MATRIX AI VISION CAMERA” occupies the otherwise empty center of that circle, while the Honor branding is on the lower back. It is definitely a distinctive design, this one. Either way, selfies are taken care of by an 8MP snapper with an f / 2.0 aperture.
The phone runs Android 12 with Honor’s Magic UI 6.1 on top and comes in four memory / storage configurations: 6/128 GB, 8/128 GB, 8/256 GB and 12/256 GB. It measures 161.6 x 73.9 x 7.9mm and weighs 172g. It is offered in the following colors, according to Google Translate: “Rainbow clouds chasing the moon”, “Ink jade green” and “Phantom night Dark”.

It is unclear when or if the Honor X40 will hit international markets, but we see no reason to remain confined to China indefinitely.
