Honor presented its flagship tablet, the Honor Pad V8 Pro, at the end of last year. The slate boasts an improved 12.1-inch 144Hz IMAX display and comes with a base price of CNY 2,600 for an 8/128GB unit. Now the company has introduced a cheaper non-Pro tablet: CNY 1,900 for an 8/128GB tablet and CNY 2,000 for an 8/256GB one.

The new Honor Pad V8 is up for pre-order in China right now, and buyers can reserve a seat online with a CNY 100 deposit, those who pre-order will get a small discount of CNY 100. Without the discount, the base price converts to $275 / €250 / ₹22,500.
The non-Pro model is smaller with an 11-inch display, still an IPS LCD with the same 2,560 x 1,600 px resolution. The refresh rate has been reduced slightly to 120Hz. The smaller display is also paired with a smaller battery with a capacity of 7,250mAh and 22.5W charging (compared to 10,050 and 35W on the Pro).
Most interestingly, this is the first device to use MediaTek’s Dimension 8020 chipset. It is a 6nm chip with four 2.6GHz Cortex-A78 cores and four 2.0GHz A55 cores, the GPU is a Mali-G77 MC9. The chipset appears to be based on the Dimension 1100. As we’ve already mentioned, the tablet has 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage, as well as a microSD slot.
This model launches with the older MagicUI 6.1, which is based on Android 12. Some other notable features are Wi-Fi 6 (ax) and Bluetooth 5.1. There are four speakers on board with DTS:X Ultra support (wired audio is handled by the USB-C port).
The board measures 7.3mm thick and weighs 485g. Like the Pro model, there is vegan leather on the back (currently available in brown and grey).
The Honor Pad V8 can optionally be paired with a Magic Pencil 3 stylus or a Magic Keyboard (or both).

It’s not clear if Honor will make the Pad V8 available outside of China (the Pro model isn’t).
