As expected, soon after Qualcomm unveiled the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a number of companies took to Weibo to announce that their next flagship will use the new chip. During the announcement, Qualcomm shared a list of brands working on a second-generation powered phone, but some may need more time than others. Here are the ones racing to be first to market.

OnePlus opens with a big promise: the OnePlus 11 series will be the first with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (more details here). It doesn’t go into detail, so we don’t know how many phones to expect.

Xiaomi also calls “first”, so we can expect the Xiaomi 13 series to arrive soon with a Gen 2 chipset. Will it beat OnePlus in the market? Hard to say for now, but the first phones using the new chip will be out before the end of the year.

Oppo also throws its hat into the ring: the Oppo Find X6 Pro will be powered by Qualcomm’s new flagship chip (although the vanilla X6 may use the 8+ Gen 1 instead). The Weibo post also says “first,” but we’re not sure if it means “first in the family” or “first ever.” They can’t all be prime.

Meanwhile, Motorola confirms that the Moto X40 series will jump aboard the Gen 2 train. This means that the Edge 40 series will as well, at least the higher-end models.

vivo also wants to be in on the action, so the upcoming X90 series will use the new chip (the X90 Pro+ has already run Geekbench). The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be popular among gaming phones, so the iQOO 11 will also use it (and has also been benchmarked).

As well as the Red Magic 8 Pro (and the vanilla model, presumably). Parent company ZTE is also teasing a new flagship, this should come under the Axon brand (hence Axon 50). The sister series is getting the new chip, so expect to see it in some nubia Z50 models.

Remember Meizu? He’s been having a rough time, but his Weibo account says the company is also working on an SD 8 Gen 2 phone (as a reminder, Meizu is now under the wing of Geely, who are working on launching a new smartphone company ).

Note these are just the first wave of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 launches, there are more to come. Below is the list that Qualcomm shared when announcing the new chip. And even this is not complete as for example Samsung is missing and we know that it will use it in its 2023 flagships (most likely for the S series and certainly for the Z series).
