The Motorola Edge 30 Fusion has been around for over 5 months, initially available in four colors: Cosmic Gray, Aurora White, Solar Gold, and a Neptune Blue Vegan Leather option.
Now Motorola has added a fifth option that we have with us today: say hello to the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion in Viva Magenta, the Pantone color of the year 2023.
The partnership between Pantone and Motorola began with the Edge 30 Neo in 2022, when the midranger arrived in last year’s color Very Peri. We’re excited to see the partnership expand to more capable devices that enhance their looks.
Motorola ships the phone in plastic-free packaging and the entire packaging is made from recyclable materials, while the ink is made from soy. Continuing the sustainability trend, the Viva Magenta color option is finished in vegan leather: instead of an animal product, Edge 30 Fusion’s panel is made with a blend of polyurethane and plant products.
However, the company still kept the 68W charger and USB-C cable in the box. There’s also a neat clear case, allowing you to show off the beautiful design while protecting your phone. Interestingly, the phone even emits an exquisite aroma, like a nice perfume that was applied before the package was sealed.
Taking the phone out of the box, we realize that it is even more stunning than in the pictures. The magenta color basks in the sunlight, and with the camera island and border painted similarly, this Edge 30 Fusion is one of the prettiest phones we’ve ever handled.
Turning it on, we see a lovely background in the same hue, while the Material You UI has a matching Magenta theme. The Personalization menu also has a little reminder that this isn’t just any regular reddish color, it’s Pantone certified.
The phone also comes with Moto Buds 600 ANC TWS earphones, which come in the Winetasting shade (yes, that’s really the name of the color). It is said to be “designed to complement Pantone Color of the Year 2023” and is a shade of burgundy. We must remember that the CMYK percentage of this color is 100% magenta, so even without the Pantone mark, it “makes a striking pair and a new wardrobe stable.”
This Edge 30 Fusion comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB, and is otherwise the same capable premium device we reviewed in early September. It has a fantastic 144Hz AMOLED, a capable Snapdragon 888+ chipset, and solid battery life.
We love that Motorola sticks to the stock OS experience in the global market, and while Android is still at 12, there are updates planned and Android 13 should be arriving soon.
The Motorola Edge 30 Fusion initially launched at €600 in Europe, while the starting price in the US was $699. The Viva Magenta version and Winetasting gems in the box mean the price is rising to $799 in the US , but in Europe you can get it for €550, making it a solid deal.
