Samsung has reportedly started rolling out One UI 6.0 based on Android 14 to Samsung Galaxy A72 owners in Russia, but as is usually the case, it won’t be long before other markets get the new firmware as well.

Samsung Galaxy A72 receives its latest major OS update to Android 14

It’s important to note that this is the end of the road for the Galaxy A72 as this is the last major OS update it’s about to receive. The phone launched in March 2021 on Android 11, so a mid-range device getting three major versions of the OS over its lifetime is pretty respectable.

Anyway, the firmware version is A725FXXU6EWL4 and surprisingly, it is only 2GB big, but it includes the latest security patch of December 2023. By the way, you can expect maybe another year of security updates. It’s also possible that One UI 6.1 will reach the Galaxy A72 once it debuts alongside the Galaxy S24 series, but nothing is certain.

In case you don’t see the update even after manually checking for one in the Settings menu, wait a few more days and it will show up.
