According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a famous Apple analyst, the company’s first wave of orders will be mainly dominated by the iPhone 14 Pro models. That’s 85% to be exact. And the iPhone 14 Plus option will account for less than 5% of sales. It’s the same kind of sales performance that wiped out the mini line.

Early data on offline pre-order in China shows exactly that, and Kuo says this is usually the case with early sales. However, this year the Pro option sales allocation is slightly higher than in previous years. This is likely due to the greater disparity in features between the standard iPhone 14 series and the Pro iterations.

Early buyers flock to iPhone 14 Pro models

It is clear that the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max have received bigger updates than the regular iPhone 14, which has received minor updates compared to their predecessor and the 14 Plus, which is apparently priced too close to the Pro models.

However, there is a case to be made for the iPhone 14 Plus in the long run. It’s no secret that buyers prefer large screens and in previous years the only iPhone variant with a large display was the Pro Max, which is also the more expensive one. So maybe people around the world could start increasing their iPhone 14 Plus sales once they start weighing their options.
