Asus has just started rolling out stable Android 13 to its 2021 flagships: the Zenfone 8 and Zenfone 8 Flip. The update also includes the latest security patch from January 2023.

Asus Zenfone 8 and 8 Flip start receiving Android 13

The firmware version is 33.0210.0210.210 and it brings not only the inherent features of Android 13, but also adds a couple of extras courtesy of Asus. The company was kind enough to post the full changelog on its support website.

  • System updated to Android 13.
  • Renewed Mobile Manager, Contacts, Phone, Emergency Call, File Manager, Calculator, Clock, Gallery, Weather, Audio Recorder, Settings, Data Transfer, Local Backup and so on.
  • Quick settings panel, notification bar and volume panel adapted to Android 13 design
  • Added notification permission feature. You can adjust the permission of each app in Apps & notifications settings.
  • Added system clipboard “Auto-delete” and editor functionality.
  • Added QR code scanner option for lock screen shortcut function and Control from locked device function in Security & lock screen setting.
  • Depending on the Digital Wellbeing setting, the system color scheme can be set to automatically switch from the bedtime option.
  • Changed the Vibration and touch intensity setting, Display and font size, and the width/length of the white navigation bar when choosing gesture navigation.
  • Changed the Blocked Numbers to Phone setting for stock behavior. You will not receive calls or SMS from blocked numbers.
  • Removed Call Duration setting.
  • Replaced original style settings with new background and style settings: remove shape option, support themed icons, and system color is reset to blue.
  • Added quick link sharing function in ASUS Launcher.
  • Added Asus customization preference setting. It allows you to apply the collection of commonly used personalization settings with one click.
  • Removed the “Calm” and “Elegant” options in the Power Button Menu Style setting.
  • Changed the design of the keyboard and contact details page in the Phone app to display information more clearly.
  • Some third-party apps are not yet compatible with Android 13.
  • Update system modes to the latest version, including “High Performance”, “Dynamic”, “Durable” and “Ultra Durable”. Game Genie is also updated to the latest version, to allow for quick system mode switching in games.
