The OnePlus 11 arrived in early December, followed by a global release in February. The phone was launched in two colors, black and green, and today it has a third option which is by far the prettiest of the three.
The unique edition is called Jupiter Rock and is designed after the surface of the largest planet in our solar system. Each unit has a different pattern, developed with a material OnePlus calls “3D microcrystalline rock” with a subtle shimmer underneath when light hits it.
The research and development of the panel took over 1 year and the material goes through 9 complex processes before becoming a back panel on a OnePlus 11 smartphone. The company said that the production is so complicated, the efficiency is only 25 %, compared to the green glass panel, where the yield is 50%.
OnePlus called the feel of the new panel “cool and skin-friendly like jade (stone) that has been under spring water for thousands of years.” Jupiter may be a gaseous planet, but the design and material are based on a microlith rock; so OnePlus came up with the name “Jupiter Rock”.
