Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 15 series in September, and the Pro Max family member will be the first smartphone with a periscope camera. According to an analyst, this feature could now cause a delay as Sony would not be able to give enough time to the sensors.

The outage is likely to set back iPhone 15 Pro Max shipments by four weeks, according to 9to5Mac, which cited the “note from a top stock analyst.”

The announcement of the Apple iPhone 15 series will likely take place on September 13, with pre-orders opening on September 15 and deliveries expected to begin seven days later. However, with the expected delay of three to four weeks, Pro Max deliveries could be moved between October 6 and 13.

Production delays are nothing new for Apple: the iPhone XR arrived later than the XS series due to delayed shipments of components to Pegatron. The same thing happened two years later, when iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max had to give way to iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.

Deliveries of the screens were reported to be behind schedule as OLED makers LG and BOE were unable to keep up with requirements, prompting Apple to ramp up demand from Samsung. We haven’t had any news in recent weeks to suggest that Cupertino has managed to address the issue.
