On Global Accessibility Day, Samsung released an update for the Galaxy Buds2 Pro that enabled Enhanced Ambient Sound, a feature that helps people with mild to moderate hearing loss. The update was initially rolled out in South Korea but is now rolling out to Europe.
The firmware update is version R510XXU0AWF4. Here is the changelog:
- A new feature has been added to the Labs menu
- Added “Clearer call sound”, useful in noisy places
- Added “Extra High Ambient Volume” for “Hearing Enhancements” (when activated, “Ambient Sound Level” changes from step 3 to step 5)
- Stability and reliability (stability has been improved)
Basically, enabling the Amplify Ambient Sound feature in the settings now has two extra levels for the ambient sound volume sliders. There’s a slider for each gem, so users can dial things in for their individual needs.
The Galaxy Buds2 Pro update offers an extremely high ambient volume setting
This feature was tested in two clinical studies: one conducted by the University of Iowa’s Hearing Aid and Aging Research Laboratory, the other by Samsung Medical Center. Trials have shown that Buds2 Pro can “significantly improve speech perception” for people with hearing impairments.
