Presentation

Mortal Kombat 11 once again focuses on casualties and gratuitous violence. You can perform all kinds of creepy moves. These can obviously cause terrible wounds which are gloriously displayed on the screen in all their gory detail. For those making their introduction to the franchise, this may seem like a bit much. However, it’s probably the very element that makes Mortal Kombat stand out in a crowded field. Experienced players demand it, and NetherRealm offers it in spades.

But the same doesn’t apply to the character models and their facial expressions. While some performances are great, others suffer from both vocal work and general acting. Sonya Blade is a good example of this. She looks out of place compared to many of the best performances of other characters. For the most part, however, the dubbing and sound design are strong.

Final verdict

Mortal Kombat 11 is an ultimate contender for the best fighting game currently on the market. It improves almost every aspect of the series. Featuring strong, in-depth combat plus a fun story, it has everything you want. The only real complaints are poor acting and the laborious effort to unlock all content. Otherwise, this is a game that all fans of the genre will want to play.
