Orange marmalade, grandmother’s recipe

  • Granulated sugar: 500 g

Preparation

Wash the oranges and dry them well with kitchen paper. Peel them and carefully remove the white inner part.

Cut the oranges into cubes and pour them into a steel saucepan with a double bottom.

Add the sugar and bring everything to a low flame.

Let it cook, stirring well, so that the sugar dissolves.

Cook for about 45 minutes or until the pulp is soft, stirring occasionally to prevent it from sticking to the bottom.

To be sure it’s cooked, try pouring a teaspoon of jam on a saucer: if it doesn’t run, the mixture is ready. Then transfer it to sterilized glass jars.

Fill up to an inch from the edge, cleaning with a piece of paper if they get dirty. Close with lids and turn the jars upside down until completely cooled.

Advice

You can add to your jam a teaspoon of grated ginger: it will give a very pleasant and fresh, slightly spicy result.
